Genesis 1:6-8
Link to the biblical passage
OK, so here we are in day 2. This is a very interesting but mentally tough day to break down. With that being said, let's dive in head first and stick with me here because it will be worth it, because it is amazing what this day of creation entails.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
In this verse we see that a firmament is made, but what exactly does that mean. Well, keep in mind that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void." We have no idea what it was like back then. Here is where the head spinning quantum physics begin. We live in a three dimensional (3D) universe. We see height, depth, and width. As 3D people we can look at a 2D universe and understand it completely. We can see the whole process, and have vantage point that no one in that universe can comprehend. We can be closer to each person on that plane then they can be to each other simply because of our perspective. As 3D people we also know of and can sense a fourth dimension, that is space/time. Well from modern science we know that both space and time can bend. If that is true, then it has to have some place to bend towards. It is a common belief that there are at least 10 dimensions but only 4 can be known. The 4 physical have beginnings and endings, the other 6 are outside of our scope of reality there for they are called the spiritual.
I'll continue to blow your mind even further here. We now know that the universe has an ending. It is fascinating to know that we have an end to our reality, and that getting to that point is like getting to the edge of a box. This is also where I believe that the time/space property bend, but don't quote me on that. So we have limits on how far we can travel out, interesting but so what?
Well come to find out we have a starting point as well. We now know thanks to quantum physics that you can get to a place of non-locality with sub atomic particles. What that means is in concept you have a line and you cut that in half, whatever is left you cut that in half. In theory you should be able to do this forever. We find out though that once you do that to 10X36th power (sorry, math) when you split that, it ceases to exist.
Now what is even more interesting then that is this non-locality seems to be in perfect form with all other spaces of non-locality; it's similar to a computer waiting on a binary code to run the program or a piece of paper waiting to be written on (that example isn't completely accurate, but it simplifies it a bit I hope). That is heavy stuff I'll try to simplify it.
We are a small part to a bigger reality. We are basically a digital simulation, a computer program if you will. I'm not talking matrix stuff here, but our entire universe is built on a system of numbers that interlock with one another in perfect harmony to make it run. Furthermore every number is interlocked with one another, and knows exactly what the other numbers of it's type is doing all the time. That is detail at it's highest level. That takes a seriously smart person to make that happen, and it is an impossibility for that to happen by chance. Binary codes HAVE to be created, they CAN NOT happen randomly, because true randomness does not exist. Because of the aforementioned model, if it were a case of randomness it wouldn't be possible to have the non-locality communicate. We can base this off of our knowledge of computers. When you think about it, God has to have a place where He is at outside of time in eternity, with the 10 dimensional theory that is possible.
So back to the original verse here; And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. It is conjecture that he is separating the dimensions here at this point. It is at this time he is starting the process for our physical universe. This is continued with the next verse.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Here it appears that whatever it was he was doing and separating was finished. They became physical properties of their own. It's possible that waters here aren't actually referring to real water, but more like a plasma or "goo" that is used in the next day for forming the earth. We can get this illusion by the following verse
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
So there you have it. A biblical account for physical properties in the universe. It's crazy when you think about what God is capable of doing. He is an unimaginable, superior being. And to know that this being, later on takes flesh inside His own creation to absolve our sins is just beyond comprehension. His love for us...I have no words. One thing to notice here. This is the only day that God didn't call good. I haven't a reason as to why except maybe a speculation. He had the foreknowledge that the physical realm he was creating was destined for destruction at the hands of those He created it for.
Other then that, I can't wait for next time when we will be talking about God actually forming the world that we (think) see around us today. It's an amazing journey and it only gets better.
